Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha sees market value soar tenfold after standout 2026 World Cup

At 40, Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has seen his transfer value increase tenfold on the back of an outstanding 2026 World Cup campaign, according to updated figures on the specialist website Transfermarkt.

Previously valued at €50,000 before the tournament, the former GD Chaves player is now listed at €500,000 following his performances in North America, despite currently being without a club after the expiry of his contract in Portugal.

A key figure in Cape Verde’s historic run

Vozinha, who keeps goal for the Blue Sharks, was one of the central figures in Cape Verde’s best-ever World Cup showing.

He produced a heroic display in the group stage against Spain, helping his side earn a goalless draw against the European heavyweights. His shot-stopping, command of the area and composure under pressure were widely praised as Cape Verde frustrated one of the pre-tournament favourites.

The veteran goalkeeper then delivered another high-profile performance in the round of 32 against Argentina. Although Cape Verde were knocked out after extra time in a 3-2 defeat, Vozinha again distinguished himself with a series of crucial saves that kept his team in contention deep into the match.

Those displays saw him widely regarded as one of the surprise packages of the tournament in his position, with his performances noted by observers and analysts covering the World Cup.

Transfer interest grows as Vozinha weighs next move

Out of contract and officially a free agent, Vozinha’s rise in market value comes at a time when he is considering the next step in his career.

Given his World Cup form and vast experience, interest in his services has increased, with several clubs monitoring his situation.

According to the French outlet Footmercato, the goalkeeper could be set for a move to South America, with Chilean giants Colo-Colo reported to be following him closely. The Santiago club are said to be studying his profile as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping options.

While no agreement has yet been announced, the potential switch to Chile would mark a new chapter for a player whose reputation has been significantly enhanced by his World Cup exploits and whose performances have translated into a sharp rise in his estimated market worth.
