Cameroon’s Under-23 national team has arrived in Spain to begin a week-long training camp as part of preparations for the 2027 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The squad, known as the Indomitable Lions U23, landed in the province of Álava early on Monday, 23 March 2026. Shortly after touching down, the players were transferred directly to their training base, where preparations began immediately.
The camp, which runs until 31 March, forms a central part of the team’s build-up to the upcoming qualification campaign for the continental tournament. The 2027 U23 Africa Cup of Nations is seen as a major competition for emerging players across the continent, offering a platform for young talent to showcase their abilities on an international stage.
Coaching staff have described the Spain-based training programme as a significant step in shaping the squad ahead of competitive fixtures. The gathering is expected to provide an opportunity to evaluate players, build cohesion within the group, and establish tactical understanding.
During the eight-day programme, emphasis will be placed on strengthening team unity and refining key aspects of play. Coaches are expected to assess individual performances closely while also working to develop a cohesive style of football suited to the demands of international competition.
The camp will also allow the technical staff to experiment with different combinations and systems, ensuring the team is well-prepared for the challenges of the qualification process. Building strong on-field relationships between players is considered essential, particularly as the squad aims to compete against some of the continent’s strongest youth teams.
In addition to tactical work, physical conditioning will be a priority, with structured sessions designed to improve endurance, strength, and overall match readiness.
The Indomitable Lions U23 are part of a new generation of Cameroonian footballers eager to make their mark.
As preparations get under way in Álava, attention will be focused on how effectively the team can translate training ground work into competitive performance.
