Camara curling goal against Toulouse shortlisted for Monaco award

AS Monaco have shortlisted Senegal international Lamine Camara for their “Gem of the Month of April” award following his impressive long-range strike against Toulouse FC.

The club announced the nominees for the monthly prize, which recognises the most outstanding goal scored by a Monaco player during the period.

Camara’s curling effort from outside the penalty area has earned him a place on the final shortlist, alongside American forward Folarin Balogun.

Camara’s strike came during Monaco’s Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse in Matchday 31. The midfielder produced a moment of quality when he unleashed a powerful right-footed effort from distance, bending the ball beyond the goalkeeper in a goal that stood out for both technique and execution.

The goal has quickly gained attention among supporters and club officials, who will now decide whether it is the best strike scored by a Monaco player in April.

Fans have been given three days to vote for their preferred “Gem of the Month”.

Camara is competing directly with Balogun for the award.

The striker is nominated for his goal against Marseille during Matchday 28, where he scored a well-executed lob that left the opposition defence and goalkeeper with no chance.

His finish has also been described as one of the standout moments of the month for the club.

The competition highlights two very different but equally impressive goals from Monaco’s attacking players.

While Balogun’s effort showcased composure and timing in a one-on-one situation, Camara’s strike demonstrated power, precision and confidence from long range.

Camara, who has already established himself as one of the promising midfield talents in European football, continues to attract attention with his performances for both club and country.

The Senegal international has enjoyed a strong season, adding creativity and goals from midfield while contributing to Monaco’s attacking play.

His nomination for the award adds to a growing list of individual recognitions, reflecting his increasing influence within the squad.

The midfielder’s ability to score from distance has been one of his notable strengths, with his latest goal further reinforcing his reputation.

For Monaco, the “Gem of the Month” award has become a way of celebrating moments of individual brilliance across the season, allowing fans to engage directly in selecting their favourite highlights.

With voting now open, supporters will determine whether Camara’s curling strike or Balogun’s delicate finish takes the honour for April.

The result will be announced after the three-day voting period concludes.
