Burkina Faso’s Djiga draws Turkish interest after strong Wolves display

Burkina Faso international defender Nasser Djiga has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Turkish club Trabzonspor ahead of the next winter transfer window, with the club considering options to strengthen its defence.

The 23-year-old centre-back is currently under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers until 2030, meaning any potential move would need to be agreed with the English club.

Trabzonspor are understood to be assessing Djiga as a possible addition to their back line as they prepare for the upcoming transfer period.

The Turkish side’s interest is reportedly linked to the future of Stefan Savic, whose contract with Trabzonspor is due to expire at the end of the season.

Djiga could be considered as a possible replacement for the defender, although no transfer has been confirmed.

The Burkina Faso international is also reportedly attracting interest from other clubs, including Scottish side Glasgow Rangers, suggesting that Trabzonspor may face competition if they decide to pursue a deal.

Djiga’s contractual situation at Wolverhampton remains an important factor in any potential transfer. With his current agreement running until 2030, the defender is tied to the English club for several more years.

Any move would therefore depend on the outcome of discussions between the relevant parties.

The reported interest comes as Djiga continues his career in English football.

The centre-back represents both Wolverhampton Wanderers at club level and Burkina Faso internationally, making him one of the players from the West African nation attracting attention in the European transfer market.

His defensive contribution was evident in Wolverhampton’s 2-1 victory over Burnley, in which he produced a strong display. Djiga won 100% of his duels, underlining his effectiveness in individual battles during the match.

That performance provides a further example of his defensive work, as he seeks to maintain his place and continue contributing for Wolverhampton.

His ability to compete in duels is an important part of a centre-back’s role, particularly when dealing with opposition attackers and helping to protect the team’s defensive area.

Trabzonspor’s reported interest could offer Djiga another potential opportunity in European football, should the Turkish club move beyond monitoring him and make a formal approach.

However, the available information does not confirm that negotiations have begun or that Wolverhampton are prepared to allow him to leave.

Rangers are also said to be following the defender, although details of their interest have not been confirmed.

The situation could become clearer as the winter transfer window approaches, when clubs typically assess their squads and consider possible reinforcements.

For now, Djiga remains a Wolverhampton player, with his contract extending to 2030.

Trabzonspor’s interest and the reported attention from Rangers leave his future open to speculation, but any transfer remains uncertain.
