Burkina Faso’s Bouda shines with first MLS Team of the Week nod

Ousseni Bouda has been rewarded for his impressive start to the Major League Soccer season after being named in the Team of the Week for Matchday 8.

The San Jose Earthquakes forward has emerged as one of the standout African performers in the league this season, continuing his steady rise since joining the club in January 2022.

Bouda’s inclusion follows a decisive display in San Jose’s emphatic victory over Los Angeles Football Club, where the Burkinabé international scored twice.

His goals proved crucial as the Earthquakes secured a dominant result, underlining their strong start to the campaign.

The performance not only boosted his personal tally but also highlighted his growing influence within the squad.

Bouda has now scored four goals in eight appearances this season, a return that reflects his increasing confidence and importance in the team’s attacking setup.

It marks a significant milestone in his professional career, as this is the first time the forward has been selected in the MLS Team of the Week.

Bouda’s contributions have been part of a broader team effort that has seen San Jose enjoy one of the best starts in their history.

The club’s attacking unit has been particularly effective, with support from teammates such as Timo Werner, who assisted one of Bouda’s goals in the match and also found the net himself.

Under the guidance of head coach Bruce Arena, the Earthquakes have shown renewed attacking intent and consistency.

The team’s strong form has positioned them as early contenders in the MLS season, with Bouda playing a key role in that momentum.

Since arriving in the United States, the Burkina Faso international has gradually adapted to the demands of MLS.

Initially working his way into the team, he has now established himself as a reliable attacking option, capable of making a difference in crucial moments.

His progress has not gone unnoticed, with his current market value reflecting his upward trajectory.

Still under contract with the Earthquakes until the end of 2027, Bouda remains an important part of the club’s long-term plans.

For Burkina Faso, his form is also a positive sign as the national team continues to rely on players performing abroad to strengthen its squad.

Bouda’s development in a competitive league like MLS adds depth and experience to the Stallions’ attacking options.

San Jose will look to maintain their strong run of form when they return to action against Austin FC in their next league fixture.

With Bouda in scoring form, expectations will be high for another impactful performance.

His recent recognition serves as both a reward for his hard work and a signal that he is becoming one of the key African names to watch in Major League Soccer this season.
