Burkina Faso winger Dango Ouattara continued his impressive pre-season form by scoring as Brentford ended their preparations for the new Premier League campaign with a 7-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 24-year-old found the net in the 52nd minute at the Gtech Community Stadium as Brentford produced a dominant performance against the Bundesliga side.
Ouattara’s goal was his second in the space of a week, following his strike in Brentford’s 4-1 win over Rennes on 8 August.
The Burkina Faso international started against Frankfurt and played the full 90 minutes, giving him another opportunity to build momentum ahead of Brentford’s Premier League opener.
His latest goal came after he received the ball on the right touchline before driving into the penalty area and finishing high past goalkeeper Kaua at his near post.
The goal capped another productive outing for Ouattara, who appears to be heading into the new campaign in confident form.
Brentford had already established a commanding advantage before the second half began. Kevin Schade opened the scoring after only two minutes, finishing from close range as the London side immediately took control.
New signing Mamadou Sangare doubled the advantage 10 minutes later, while Igor Thiago added a third before the interval after Schade rounded the goalkeeper and Thiago finished into an empty net.
Brentford continued their dominance after the break.
Ouattara made it 4-0 in the 52nd minute before Keane Lewis-Potter added another five minutes later.
Thiago scored his second of the afternoon in the 68th minute, with Schade completing his own brace two minutes later to bring the final score to 7-0.
The result provided an emphatic conclusion to Brentford’s pre-season preparations and offered coach Keith Andrews plenty of encouragement before the competitive campaign begins.
Andrews selected what appeared to be a strong starting XI for the final friendly, and Brentford’s performance suggested they are entering the new season with confidence.
For Ouattara, the match continued a positive run of form at a potentially important stage of his Brentford career.
The winger joined Brentford from Bournemouth last summer and completed his first season with the club having scored seven goals and provided three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.
Those numbers represented a productive first campaign as he adapted to a new club and continued his development in English football.
Ouattara was developed at Majestic in Burkina Faso before moving to France, where he played for Lorient. He subsequently joined Bournemouth before making the switch to Brentford.
The upcoming campaign will be his fourth full season in the English top flight, giving him considerable experience of Premier League football despite being only 24.
His recent goals against Rennes and Frankfurt provide another positive sign as Brentford prepare to begin their league campaign.
The Bees will open their Premier League season at home against Tottenham Hotspur on 22 August, giving Ouattara and his team-mates less than two weeks to build on the momentum generated during pre-season.
