AFC Bournemouth do not intend to consider offers for midfielder Scott during the January transfer window, despite the player having only 18 months remaining on his contract, according to reports in the English media.
The club have told interested parties that no approach will be entertained until their league objectives have either been achieved or become mathematically impossible.
Scott made his senior England debut on Wednesday, featuring in the 2-0 away victory over Czech Republic in the Nations League. Before the summer transfer window, he rejected two proposals from AFC Bournemouth to extend his contract. At one stage, the midfielder was also pushing to leave Vitality Stadium.
Despite that previous uncertainty, AFC Bournemouth have maintained their position and are not prepared to sell Scott midway through the season.
The same stance applies to several other important players. The club will not consider bids for striker Kroupi, who continues to recover from injury, or winger Rayan.
AFC Bournemouth are competing on four fronts this season, including their first-ever appearance in the Europa League. Scott has impressed since moving to the south of England and has shown no indication that he is unhappy at the club.
However, it is widely believed that the midfielder eventually wants to join one of England’s biggest clubs.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are understood to be interested in Scott. Manchester City and Manchester United are not expected to pursue him after strengthening their midfield options during the summer.
Chelsea had a £64 million offer for Scott rejected in the summer transfer window but remain keen to recruit a midfielder.
The London club also failed to sign Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara on deadline day. They held discussions with Roma about Kouadio Kone and registered an interest in Fulham’s Sander Berge.
Liverpool are also expected to remain in the race. Their manager, Andoni Iraola, is reported to have a strong relationship with Scott, while Liverpool are anticipated to look for midfield reinforcements in the next transfer windows.
Liverpool are continuing to assess ways of strengthening their squad, but AFC Bournemouth’s current position means Scott is not expected to be available in January unless the club’s league objectives have been settled or ruled out.
