Bologna are exploring a move for Fiorentina striker Roberto Piccoli after agreeing to sell Santiago Castro to Roma for a fee believed to be worth €35m.
The Rossoblu are searching for a new centre-forward following Castro’s departure, and reports suggest Piccoli has emerged as their leading target. Bologna have already held initial discussions with Fiorentina about the 25-year-old, although negotiations remain at an early stage.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s latest update, Bologna would prefer to complete a permanent transfer for Piccoli during this summer’s transfer window. No agreement has yet been reached between the clubs.
Genoa have also made an enquiry to Fiorentina to establish Piccoli’s availability. However, Fiorentina have not progressed those conversations any further.
Piccoli joined Fiorentina towards the end of the summer transfer window in 2025, moving to the Viola from Cagliari in a deal reported to have been worth €25m.
During the 2025-26 campaign, he scored four goals in 32 Serie A appearances. He also found the net three times in 10 matches in the Conference League.
Bologna’s interest comes as they prepare to replace Castro, who is moving to Roma after his time with the club. The search for a new attacking option has consequently become a priority, with Piccoli now under consideration as a direct solution in the centre-forward position.
The talks with Fiorentina are not yet advanced, and Bologna’s preference for a permanent deal will be an important factor in any potential negotiations. Genoa’s earlier enquiry has not led to further discussions with Fiorentina, leaving Bologna as the club currently linked with a move for the striker.
Piccoli’s record for Fiorentina includes appearances in both domestic and European competition during his first season at the club. His four Serie A goals and three Conference League goals came across 42 matches in total in 2025-26.
