Besiktas president Serdal Adalı says the club has submitted a final contract offer to Mohamed Salah and his representatives and is now waiting for the Egypt forward to decide on a move to Istanbul.
Adalı confirmed ongoing negotiations with the former Liverpool star and stressed that Besiktas have taken discussions as far as they can, both financially and structurally, in line with the club’s interests.
Speaking to Turkish outlet Ortacizgi, Adalı said: “As has been reported in the media, we have been in talks for some time with Salah and his representatives about the details of the deal.”
He explained that the club had gone through every aspect of the proposed transfer with the 32-year-old’s camp before putting a definitive package on the table.
“In the final stage, we discussed the demands of the player and his representatives from all angles,” Adalı continued. “After mutual negotiations, we submitted our official final offer. We also asked them to inform us of their decision within a short period.”
Final proposal on the table
Adalı underlined that Besiktas consider the proposal to Salah to be their last revision after a series of adjustments made during talks to try to reach an agreement.
“While our transfer work continues with full force, this is the current situation regarding Salah,” the Besiktas president said.
“We have evaluated the requested changes since the beginning of the negotiations, in line with the club’s interests, and we have submitted our final offer.”
He concluded: “Now the decision is in the player’s hands.”
Reported terms of potential deal
Salah, who left Liverpool at the end of last season, has been heavily linked in recent weeks with a move to Besiktas during the current transfer window.
Multiple media reports in Turkey and abroad have suggested the Istanbul club are pushing hard to secure the signature of the Egypt international, who became one of the Premier League’s leading forwards during his time at Anfield.
According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Besiktas have already reached an agreement in principle with Salah and his agent on all personal terms.
Schira reports that the proposed contract would be a one-year deal, with Salah set to earn a salary of up to €12m for the season if he accepts the offer.
Besiktas have not publicly confirmed those financial details, but Adalı’s latest comments indicate the club now consider their bid complete and are awaiting a response from Salah’s camp.
