Jude Bellingham believes Harry Kane winning the Ballon d’Or is “entirely possible” after England’s captain continued his outstanding form in a 3-0 victory over Czech Republic.
England secured the result at home in the fourth round of UEFA Nations League A, with Bellingham speaking to reporters in the mixed zone after the match.
The midfielder said the longer training camp had helped England develop a better understanding and greater consistency on the pitch.
“Absolutely,” Bellingham said. “Because this training camp was longer, we had the opportunity to integrate better, build deeper chemistry and spend more time together. I think all of this ultimately showed on the pitch.”
He added that international teams can struggle to establish momentum when their players meet for only a short period.
“Sometimes, if there are only two games, it’s hard to really get into a smooth rhythm,” said Bellingham. “Often, just when you find your stride, everyone goes back to their clubs. So this training camp felt really good, truly great.”
Bellingham was also asked about Kane, who had reached 125 appearances for England, and whether the striker’s consistently high level still surprised him.
“Honestly, nothing he does surprises me anymore,” said Bellingham. “He is such an incredible role model, a person with great charisma, and it’s an honour to play alongside him.”
Kane’s pursuit of further individual honours was then raised, including the possibility of him being recognised as the world’s best player.
“As I said before, all the praise he receives is well-deserved,” Bellingham continued. “He works incredibly hard for it; he is an extremely dedicated and diligent person.”
Asked specifically whether Kane could win the Ballon d’Or, Bellingham replied: “Yeah, who knows? Who can say? It’s entirely possible.”
The Ballon d’Or is awarded to the player judged to have produced the best individual performances over the relevant period. Bellingham did not place a limit on Kane’s prospects, instead pointing to the England captain’s sustained excellence and work ethic as reasons why the honour cannot be ruled out.
