Jude Bellingham scored his 50th goal for Real Madrid as they beat Racing Santander 3-0 away from home, moving him to within one goal of Gary Lineker’s tally for Barcelona.
The result kept Real Madrid applying pressure to leaders Barcelona, while Bellingham scored his fourth goal of the season after Kylian Mbappe had opened the scoring.
Bellingham struck on the counter-attack after Mbappe played him through. The England midfielder rounded the goalkeeper before rolling the ball into an empty net.
The goal came in Bellingham’s 154th appearance for Real Madrid. It moved him to sixth in the list of Englishmen with the most goals for a single foreign club, one behind Lineker’s 51 for Barcelona, which the former Match of the Day presenter scored in 138 games.
Harry Kane leads the standings after scoring 156 goals in 160 matches for Bayern Munich. Jadon Sancho and Rob McDonald are joint third on 52 goals, with Sancho reaching that figure in 158 games for Borussia Dortmund and McDonald doing so in 115 appearances for Groningen during the 1980s.
Bellingham is within reach of Lineker, Sancho and McDonald and should soon move into third place on the list. David Loggie, however, remains some distance ahead on 74 goals.
Loggie scored that total in 172 matches for AZ Alkmaar during a six-year spell at the club. He played his football between 1975 and 1993.
Mason Greenwood is seventh after scoring 48 goals in 81 games for Marseille, while Tony Woodcock is eighth with 46 goals in 155 appearances for Koln.
Woodcock, who had successful spells with Nottingham Forest and Arsenal, left Koln to join Arsenal before returning to the club for a second spell four years later.
Ray Clarke scored 41 goals in 76 matches for Sparta Rotterdam in the 1970s. He most recently worked as head scout at Blackburn Rovers.
Kevin Keegan completes the top 10, having scored 40 goals in 113 games for Hamburg. That period of his career also included winning two Ballons d’Or.
The standings would look different if they included all British players. Welshmen John Charles and Gareth Bale would both feature in the top 10.
Charles scored 105 goals in 182 games for Juventus, while Bale recorded 106 goals in 258 appearances for Real Madrid.
