Real Madrid scored three times inside the opening 30 minutes of their La Liga match against Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, producing their quickest 3-0 lead in the competition since 2019.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring in the 19th minute, setting the tone for a dominant spell from the hosts. Real Madrid doubled their advantage seven minutes later when Malaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero put the ball into his own net.
Kylian Mbappe then completed the three-goal burst in the 30th minute, meaning Real Madrid struck three times in an 11-minute period.
The sequence gave Real Madrid their fastest 3-0 advantage in a La Liga match since 9 November 2019. The statistic was highlighted by MisterChip, the account on X known for publishing football data and historical records.
“This is Real Madrid’s earliest 3-0 lead in a La Liga game since 9 November 2019 (against Eibar, with Zidane in the dugout),” the account posted.
The earlier occasion came in Real Madrid’s match against Eibar, when Zinedine Zidane was in charge from the dugout. The current three-goal start therefore matched a landmark associated with the former manager’s time at the club.
Real Madrid went on to win the La Liga title in the 2019-20 season, the campaign in which their previous quickest 3-0 league lead had been recorded. That season remains the reference point for the statistical comparison made after Mbappe’s goal against Malaga.
Bellingham’s opener arrived 19 minutes into Sunday’s match, before Herrero’s own goal gave Real Madrid a two-goal cushion in the 26th minute. Mbappe’s finish four minutes later completed the early scoring sequence and established the 3-0 scoreline before the match had reached the half-hour mark.
The result of the opening spell also placed the performance among Real Madrid’s quickest starts in a La Liga fixture in recent seasons. According to the data shared by MisterChip, only the match against Eibar on 9 November 2019 had previously produced a 3-0 lead at an earlier stage during that period.
The match was played at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Real Madrid hosting Malaga in the Spanish top flight. The early goals from Bellingham, Herrero’s own goal and Mbappe provided the decisive statistical headline, while also recalling the club’s previous record-setting start under Zidane.
The 3-0 scoreline was already in place after half an hour, following an 11-minute spell in which Real Madrid turned the match firmly in their favour.
