Barcelona are monitoring Fiorentina right-back Dodo as a potential free-agent signing in the summer of 2027, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 27-year-old Brazilian international is entering the final year of his contract with the Serie A club, with negotiations over an extension understood to have stalled. His current situation has reportedly made him an attractive option for clubs planning their longer-term recruitment.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has described Dodo as a “low-cost” target who could interest several leading European clubs, including Barcelona. The report says he started Fiorentina’s opening two Serie A matches of the season but was subsequently dropped to the bench, with his unresolved contract situation believed to be a significant factor.
Barcelona are assessing possible targets during the international break as they consider how to strengthen their squad in future transfer windows. Right-back is an area where the club currently has limited depth.
Eric Garcia has mainly operated in that position, while Jules Kounde has also been used there when required. Both are naturally centre-backs, meaning Barcelona have had to rely on players being deployed outside their usual roles.
The club’s options at left-back have also included right-footed players. Joao Cancelo and Hector Fort have both provided versatility on that flank, while Alejandro Balde, Barcelona’s most natural left-back, has for some time been the third or fourth choice under manager Hansi Flick.
Flick has also occasionally preferred to move Gerard Martin back to his natural full-back position. Gerard Martin is now playing as a centre-back, adding to the changes Barcelona have made in their defensive selections.
Dodo is regarded as a full-back with notable attacking qualities. At 1.66 metres, he would offer Barcelona a different profile from some of their existing defensive options while potentially becoming available without a transfer fee if he leaves Fiorentina after his contract expires.
Barcelona are not the only major club reported to be interested. Serie A rivals Juventus and AC Milan are also said to be considering a move for Dodo in the summer of 2027.
Any formal approach would therefore depend on the player’s contract position and whether Fiorentina can reach an agreement to retain him. For now, Barcelona are continuing to monitor the Brazilian as they review possible defensive reinforcements for future windows.
