Barcelona seek to end recent PSG misery in Champions League

Barcelona will travel to face Paris Saint-Germain in the third round of the Champions League group stage, looking to improve a record that has seen them lose their past two meetings with the French club in European competition.

Their most recent encounter came in the second leg of the 2023/24 Champions League quarter-finals, when Paris Saint-Germain won 1-4 at Barcelona’s home ground.

Barcelona had taken a 3-2 advantage from the first leg, but the heavy defeat in the return match sent them out of the competition on an aggregate score of 4-6. They consequently missed out on a place in the Champions League semi-finals that season.

The clubs met again in the group stage of the 2024/25 season, with Barcelona suffering another home defeat.

Ferran Torres put the Spanish side ahead early in that match, but Goncalo Ramos completed Paris Saint-Germain’s comeback by scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute. The match finished 1-2, giving Barcelona a second successive loss against PSG.
