Barcelona prepare next step for Egyptian forward Hamza Abdel Karim

FC Barcelona are reportedly moving closer to finalising the future of Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim after an impressive spell with the club’s youth setup.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan side have already mapped out the next stage in the young forward’s development, with indications suggesting he will become part of Barcelona Athletic next season.

Barcelona Athletic have completed their campaign, but the squad remains active in training as the club continue preparations for the closing stages of the Spanish league season. Several reserve-team players could still be required by the senior squad before the end of the campaign, prompting the continued sessions.

The report also stated that changes are expected within Barcelona Athletic ahead of next season. Some players are expected to depart, while others will be promoted from the youth ranks as the club reshapes the squad.

Despite the planned adjustments, coach Juliano Belletti is expected to remain in charge. Club officials are reportedly satisfied with the work carried out under the former Brazilian defender, unless there are any unexpected developments before the new season begins.

Much of the recent attention, however, has centred on Hamza Abdel Karim, who has continued to attract praise following a series of promising performances since arriving at the club on loan in January.

The Egyptian striker recently produced one of his standout displays by scoring a hat-trick for Barcelona’s under-19 side in their most recent match. His performance further strengthened growing optimism surrounding his future at the club.

Barcelona had initially decided that the forward would begin his journey with the under-19 team in order to adapt gradually to the demands and style of football within the academy system.

According to the report, club officials believe the player is still in the adaptation phase, but there is already a feeling that he possesses qualities that set him apart. The striker has reportedly impressed coaches with his instincts in front of goal and his effectiveness inside the penalty area.

The report described Hamza as a skilful goalscorer and a genuine striker capable of making an impact in attacking areas, characteristics that appear to have convinced Barcelona about his long-term potential.

All indications now point towards the club securing the player on a permanent basis after his loan spell. Should the move be completed, Hamza is expected to begin next season as part of Barcelona Athletic, representing a significant step in his development within one of Europe’s most recognised football academies.

The decision would also underline Barcelona’s confidence in the Egyptian forward’s ability to progress through the club’s system and compete at a higher level in the coming years.
