Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde sidelined as club marks 23rd birthday

Alejandro Balde has made just one appearance for Barcelona this season, with the defender no longer featuring regularly for the club’s first team.

Balde played for 12 minutes against Racing in mid-September before the final whistle brought the match to an end. He has not played again during the 2026/2027 campaign.

The Barcelona defender turned 23 on Sunday, with the club marking his birthday in a post on social media.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has previously acknowledged that Balde’s situation is difficult.

Barcelona have won all 11 of their matches so far in the 2026/2027 season. The Catalan side’s next important fixtures are against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
