Barcelona have reached an oral agreement with Fenerbahce to sign goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic for a total fee of €4m, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who reported: “Here we go!”
The proposed agreement includes an initial payment of €2m, with a further €2m available through a floating clause. The deal is therefore expected to be worth €4m in total, although the second part of the fee is dependent on the terms attached to that clause.
Barcelona’s plan is for Livakovic to become a reserve goalkeeper after Wojciech Szczesny leaves the club in June 2027. The Croatian goalkeeper is not expected to immediately compete for a regular place in the Barcelona squad, with the club instead adopting a longer-term approach to the transfer.
Livakovic will spend this season away from Barcelona on loan. Previous reports from Sport said he is set to return temporarily to his former club, Dinamo Zagreb, as part of the arrangement.
The move would see Livakovic join Barcelona from Fenerbahce before being loaned to Dinamo Zagreb for the campaign. That structure would allow the goalkeeper to continue playing for his parent club while Barcelona prepare for his eventual role as Szczesny’s replacement.
The agreement between Barcelona and Fenerbahce is currently described as oral, with the reported terms involving the €2m initial fee and the additional €2m floating clause. Romano’s “Here we go!” indicates that the transfer is considered close to completion, although the report does not provide further details about the contractual conditions or the exact timing of the formal announcement.
Livakovic has previously been linked with a return to Dinamo Zagreb, where he established himself before moving to Fenerbahce. According to the reports cited, that return would now come in the form of a season-long loan after his transfer to Barcelona.
The goalkeeper’s anticipated future at Barcelona is connected to Szczesny’s departure in June 2027. Until then, Livakovic is expected to remain away from the first-team squad this season, with the loan move to Dinamo Zagreb forming the next stage of his career.
