Badredine Bouanani is set to continue his career in Scotland after joining Rangers on a season-long loan from Stuttgart.
The 21-year-old Algeria international will leave the German club temporarily as he begins a new chapter with the Glasgow side. The agreement also includes an option for Rangers to sign him permanently at the end of the 2026/27 season.
That option is understood to be worth about 18m euros, giving Rangers the opportunity to retain Bouanani beyond the initial loan period if his time in Scotland proves successful.
Bouanani arrived at Stuttgart a year ago after leaving OGC Nice. His temporary departure will allow him to seek more regular playing time while continuing his development away from the Bundesliga club.
The move represents another overseas experience for the young winger, who has already played in France and Germany before switching his immediate focus to Scottish football. Stuttgart have agreed to release him on loan with the aim of helping him gain the minutes needed to make further progress in his career.
His departure had previously been reported exclusively by Africafoot several months ago.
Bouanani remains regarded as a player with significant potential. He has been selected five times by Algeria and is continuing to establish himself at international level, while his current market value is estimated at 10m euros by Transfermarkt.
At Rangers, he will now look to take the next step in his development and secure a lasting place in British football. The loan gives him the chance to impress at one of Scotland’s leading clubs, while the purchase option means his performances could ultimately determine whether the move becomes permanent.
For Stuttgart, the arrangement provides Bouanani with the opportunity to gain experience and playing time elsewhere without ending the relationship immediately. For Rangers, it offers access to a highly rated young attacker, with the possibility of completing a permanent transfer at the conclusion of the campaign.
Bouanani’s arrival therefore links his future to two decisions: first, how successfully he adapts to life in Scotland during the 2026/27 season, and then whether Rangers decide to activate the option valued at approximately 18m euros. Until then, the Algeria international’s immediate objective will be to make an impact in Glasgow and continue the progression that has made him one of the promising young players in the Stuttgart squad.
