Axel Tuanzebe linked with Lazio move after leaving Burnley

DR Congo and England defender Axel Tuanzebe, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Lazio in Serie A.

The 28-year-old centre-back left Burnley on 1 July 2026 after one season at the club. He joined Burnley from Ipswich Town in July 2025, having previously helped Ipswich secure promotion to the top flight during the 2023-24 season.

Tuanzebe has made four appearances at the 2026 World Cup, starting all four matches and completing 100% of the available minutes. He has also played 64 Premier League matches and 52 Championship games during his career.

The defender began his senior career with Manchester United after progressing through the club’s youth system. He made loan moves to Aston Villa and Stoke City, and also spent part of the 2021-22 season with Napoli in Serie A.

Tuanzebe’s career honours include two promotions to the first league, with Aston Villa in 2018-19 and Ipswich in 2023-24, as well as two Premier League 2 titles with Manchester United Under-21s.

Lazio’s interest comes with Tuanzebe available after his departure from Burnley. His current market value is listed at €5m, while no transfer fee or contract details have been established for a potential move to the Italian club.
