21-year-old Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo could be heading for Spain after Atletico Madrid reportedly submitted a €35m bid for the highly rated attacker.
According to TEAMtalk, Atletico Madrid have made an offer for Fernandez-Pardo as they attempt to secure his signature ahead of Premier League interest from Manchester City and Tottenham.
The report says Atletico head coach Diego Simeone is personally keen to bring the Belgium international to his squad. Fernandez-Pardo’s potential arrival would be viewed as a separate transfer decision, however, and is not connected to the future of Argentina forward Julian Alvarez.
Atletico Madrid’s proposal places them directly in competition with Manchester City and Tottenham for a player Lille regard as a valuable long-term asset. The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the French club’s promising attacking options, and his possible move to Spain would represent a significant step in his career.
Lille are not believed to be in a hurry to accept Atletico Madrid’s offer. The club reportedly expects to receive more than €100m from Manchester City for midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, and that anticipated deal is influencing its broader approach to the squad.
The French club would prefer to keep its other players as it prepares for the new season. Lille’s aim is to retain enough of their current group to challenge near the top of the table, rather than allow a number of key players to leave during the same transfer window.
That stance could make negotiations over Fernandez-Pardo more difficult, despite Atletico Madrid’s €35m proposal. The French club must weigh the immediate value of the offer against its desire to remain competitive, while Manchester City and Tottenham continue to be linked with the forward.
Fernandez-Pardo’s future is therefore dependent not only on Atletico Madrid’s interest but also on Lille’s wider transfer plans. The club’s expectation of a fee exceeding €100m from Manchester City for Bouaddi may affect which other offers it is prepared to consider.
For now, Atletico Madrid have made the clearest reported move for Fernandez-Pardo, with Simeone said to be keen on the forward. Manchester City and Tottenham remain interested, while Lille’s priority is to protect a squad capable of competing for high positions next season.
