Atalanta have joined Ajax in showing interest in Napoli winger Noa Lang, but the Italian club are not currently prepared to accept a loan offer for the Netherlands international, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Lang is expected to leave Napoli after returning from a loan spell at Galatasaray. With his time in Turkey now complete, the Dutch winger is preparing for the next stage of his career and has been placed on Atalanta’s transfer list.
Atalanta have already contacted Napoli to ask about Lang’s situation and discuss the possibility of a move. However, their preference is to sign the winger on loan initially, a proposal Napoli are currently unwilling to approve.
The two clubs have therefore not reached an agreement, with Napoli’s position preventing the transfer from progressing at this stage. The situation could still develop if the conditions change in the coming days, meaning Atalanta’s interest remains one to monitor.
Ajax are also understood to be interested in Lang, with Atalanta now the latest club to make an enquiry about the player’s availability. For the moment, though, Napoli are not accepting the loan arrangement preferred by the Bergamo club.
Lang has just completed his temporary spell at Galatasaray and is now preparing to depart Napoli. His future remains unresolved, while Atalanta continue to assess whether a deal can be reached on terms acceptable to both clubs.
The current obstacle is the structure of the proposed transfer rather than a lack of interest from Atalanta. The club have identified Lang as a target, but Napoli’s refusal to sanction a loan means further discussions may be required before the situation becomes clearer.
If Napoli change their stance in the next few days, Atalanta could remain involved in the race for the winger. Until then, their enquiry has not resulted in an agreement, and Lang’s next destination is still undecided.
