Aaron Wan-Bissaka, the England and DR Congo right-back, has joined Aston Villa from West Ham United on loan.
The 28-year-old has moved to the Premier League club after West Ham’s relegation to the Championship last season. His loan is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to West Ham.
Wan-Bissaka brings experience from more than one Premier League club, having previously played for Crystal Palace, Manchester United and West Ham. He joined West Ham from Manchester United in August 2024 in a €17.6m transfer.
The defender began his senior career with Palace after progressing through the club’s under-18 and under-23 teams. His performances at Selhurst Park led to a move to Manchester United in July 2019 for €55m.
Wan-Bissaka won the English League Cup with United in 2023 and the English FA Cup a year later. He then switched to West Ham, where he spent the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons before completing his temporary move to Villa.
Born in London on 26 November 1997, Wan-Bissaka is a right-footed defender whose preferred position is right-back. He stands 1.83m tall and has represented both England and DR Congo at international level.
His arrival gives Aston Villa an experienced option in a defensive role as the club begins its 2026-27 Premier League campaign. Villa’s early-season competitions include the Premier League and EFL Cup, while Wan-Bissaka also played in four World Cup matches in 2026, starting each game.
Wan-Bissaka’s move to Villa is his third senior club change since leaving Crystal Palace, following his transfers to Manchester United and West Ham. His current market value is €15m, although the latest switch is recorded as a loan transfer rather than a permanent sale.
The move was completed on 21 August 2026, with Wan-Bissaka joining Aston Villa from West Ham until the end of June 2027.
