Al-Taawoun Dismiss Interest in Emam Ashour Amid Saudi Transfer Speculation.Saudi club denies negotiations as Al Ahly midfielder linked with summer move
Saudi Pro League side Al-Taawoun FC have denied reports linking them with a move for Emam Ashour, insisting the Egyptian international is not part of their transfer plans.
Recent speculation had suggested that Ashour, currently with Al Ahly SC, could be heading to Saudi Arabia during the upcoming summer transfer window. The rumours gained traction after earlier reports also connected him with Al-Qadisiyah FC.
However, according to a source within Al-Taawoun, the club has not initiated any contact with either the player or Al Ahly regarding a potential transfer.
No official talks confirmed
In comments reported by Yalla Kora, a club representative made clear that no negotiations have taken place and that Ashour is not currently under consideration.
The source further indicated that transfer discussions have not yet begun, with the club choosing to focus on its ongoing campaign before addressing recruitment plans at the end of the season.
This clarification comes amid increasing media speculation surrounding the 28-year-old midfielder, whose performances have attracted attention beyond Egypt.
Contract situation and previous links
Ashour remains under contract with Al Ahly until the summer of 2028, having joined the club in 2023 from Danish side FC Midtjylland in a deal reported to be worth $3 million.
Earlier reports had linked him with a move to Al-Qadisiyah, a club currently competing for the Saudi league title. However, it was also confirmed that no official negotiations had taken place between Al-Qadisiyah and Al Ahly over a possible transfer.
Despite the continued speculation, there is currently no indication that Ashour is set to leave the Cairo-based club in the near future.
Focus remains on domestic and international duties
On the pitch, Ashour has featured in 13 matches across domestic and continental competitions this season, contributing two goals and four assists.
Meanwhile, he is currently part of the Egypt national football team squad preparing for an international friendly against Spain national football team. The match forms part of Egypt’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Al-Taawoun’s competitive position
Al-Taawoun are currently fifth in the Saudi Pro League standings with 45 points from 26 matches. They trail leading sides including Al Nassr FC, Al Hilal SFC, Al Ahli Saudi FC and Al-Qadisiyah.
The club’s current focus remains on maintaining a strong league position, which may explain their reluctance to engage in transfer activity at this stage of the season.
Rumours unfounded for now
While Emam Ashour continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, Al-Taawoun’s firm denial suggests that such reports are premature. With no negotiations underway and the player under a long-term contract, any potential transfer appears unlikely in the immediate future.
For now, Ashour’s attention remains on his commitments with Al Ahly and the Egyptian national team, as speculation over his future continues to circulate.
