Arsenal have collected more points after eight Premier League matches this season than they had at the same stage of last season’s title-winning campaign, despite again sitting second in the table.
Their latest points came in a 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday, with the result recorded during the eighth round of the Premier League.
The London club made a fast start at Emirates Stadium, taking the lead after seven minutes through defender Ezri Konsa. Gabriel Magalhaes then doubled Arsenal’s advantage in the 68th minute to secure a fourth win of the campaign.
According to CBS Sports statistics, Arsenal have 21 points after eight games this season. That is two more than the 19 they had accumulated after the same number of matches last season, which they went on to finish as Premier League champions.
CBS Sports Golazo highlighted the comparison in a post published on 24 October 2026, writing: “Arsenal have more points after eight Premier League games than they did at the same stage of last season’s title-winning campaign. Yet they currently sit second 👀”
Although Arsenal’s points total has improved, they remain behind Manchester City in the standings. The two clubs are level on points, with Manchester City occupying first place because of their superior goal difference.
The result leaves Arsenal involved in another closely fought contest with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, while their opening eight matches have provided a stronger points return than during the equivalent period of the campaign in which they won the title.
