Arsenal and Manchester City set for closely matched Community Shield contest in Cardiff

Arsenal and Manchester City will contest the first competitive fixture of the new English season when they meet in the Super Cup at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on 16 August. The match, between the Premier League champions and the winners of the domestic cup, will kick off at 17:00 Moscow time.

Bookmakers do not identify a clear favourite, although Arsenal have been given a slight advantage by PARI’s analysts. An Arsenal victory in 90 minutes is priced at 2.60, implying an estimated probability of about 37%. Manchester City are available at 2.75, equivalent to roughly 35%, while a draw is priced at 3.40, or approximately 28%.

The odds remain similarly tight when a penalty shootout is included. Arsenal are priced at 1.87 to lift the trophy, with that outcome assessed at 51%, while Manchester City are offered at 1.95, representing 49%.

PARI customers have shown a stronger preference for an Arsenal win. The London club accounts for 56% of the total stake placed on the result after 90 minutes. Manchester City have attracted 34%, with the remaining 10% backing a draw.

When all possible outcomes are included, Arsenal have received 67% of the bets compared with 33% for Manchester City.

Recent meetings between the sides have not regularly produced high-scoring matches. Fewer than three goals were scored in four of their past five encounters. Over 2.5 goals is priced at 1.93, while under 2.5 is available at 1.87.

Both teams to score is offered at 1.73, with 2.05 available for no goal to be scored by one of the sides.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is considered the most likely player to score in the Super Cup. His goal is priced at 2.10. Arsenal’s leading candidate is Viktor Gyokeres, who is available at 2.80.

The top five in the anytime goalscorer market also include Gabriel Jesus, Omar Marmoush and Antoine Semenyo. Each of those three players is priced at 3.50.

Arsenal have won the English Super Cup 17 times, while Manchester City have claimed the trophy on seven occasions.

Both clubs have lifted the trophy in relatively recent years. Arsenal defeated Manchester City on penalties in 2023, before City responded 12 months later by beating Manchester United in another shootout.

Manchester City are also regarded by bookmakers as the leading contenders for the new Premier League campaign, which begins on 21 August. PARI offer odds of 2.50 for Mikel Arteta’s side to win the league, while Manchester City, managed by their current boss, are priced at 3.80.

The bookmaker says its offers are available after a quick registration. The source article also lists promotional advertising links for winline.ru and fon.bet.
