APR FC have been crowned champions of the Rwanda Premier League for a seventh consecutive season after sealing the 2025/26 title on Matchday 31.
The army-sponsored club finished the campaign with 59 points, extending their remarkable dominance in domestic football and taking their overall league title tally to a record 23 championships.
The latest triumph further strengthens APR FC’s position as the most successful club in Rwandan football history and continues a period of sustained control that has now stretched from 2020 through to 2026.
Their latest title was secured after another consistent campaign in which defensive organisation and squad depth once again proved decisive.
Despite strong competition from long-time rivals Rayon Sports throughout the season, APR FC managed to maintain their advantage and eventually clinched the championship with matches still remaining.
The title also guarantees APR FC automatic qualification for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, where the club will once again attempt to establish a stronger continental presence.
APR FC have dominated domestically in recent years but have struggled to translate that success consistently onto the African stage, often falling short in the early phases of continental competition.
Club officials are now expected to shift focus towards strengthening the squad ahead of the next Champions League campaign, with ambitions of progressing deeper into the tournament.
The club reportedly views international improvement as a major priority following another successful domestic season.
APR FC’s latest title-winning campaign was achieved during what has been described as a transitional period for the team, with the technical bench overseeing adjustments within the squad while still maintaining the club’s high competitive standards.
Even amid those changes, the Kigali-based side continued to demonstrate the qualities that have defined their dominance in Rwanda over recent years — defensive stability, tactical discipline and the ability to consistently collect points in high-pressure moments.
Their superior depth also proved important across the course of the season, allowing the club to maintain momentum during demanding stretches of the campaign.
The achievement of seven consecutive league titles highlights the scale of APR FC’s control over the domestic game and underlines the challenge facing rival clubs hoping to break their hold on Rwandan football.
Attention will now gradually turn toward preparations for continental competition, where APR FC will seek to strengthen their reputation beyond the domestic stage and finally convert local dominance into a sustained impact in African club football.
