Anguissa’s stunning bicycle kick puts Napoli ahead against Roma

Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa produced a spectacular bicycle kick to give Napoli a 1-0 lead against Roma at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The midfielder met a free kick from Matteo Politano with an acrobatic finish from 14 yards, sending the ball into the far top corner after Marten de Roon could only clear the delivery as far as Anguissa.

Roma goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini was left rooted to the spot as the shot looped over the group of players inside the penalty area and found the net.

Napoli went into the game under pressure after a difficult week. The Partenopei were beaten 3-1 by bottom side Venezia last weekend before edging past Bodo/Glimt 4-3 in the Champions League.

Despite those results, they made the breakthrough against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma through a goal of outstanding quality from Anguissa.

The 30-year-old, who turns 31 next month, has endured a challenging campaign disrupted by repeated injury problems. The goal was his first since scoring in Napoli’s 1-0 away victory against Lecce on October 28, 2025.
