Aliou Dieng’s agent denies January exit plans amid Valencia CF uncertainty

Aliou Dieng’s future at Valencia CF is not currently under threat, despite recent reports in the Spanish media suggesting the Mali international could leave the club in January.

Khaled Maghraby, the midfielder’s agent, has rejected the possibility of a departure during the winter transfer window. Speaking to Africafoot, he said no decision had been taken to end Dieng’s time in Spain and that a January separation was not under consideration.

The clarification follows a report by Spanish newspaper AS, which claimed Valencia CF’s management was considering parting company with the midfielder after his performances had failed to meet expectations. Dieng’s representatives, however, say there has been no concrete approach or formal process to arrange a departure.

Dieng joined Valencia CF from Al Ahly at the beginning of the season on a free transfer. He featured in the club’s first five Liga matches but was left on the bench for the two most recent games, leading to questions over his current position in his manager’s plans.

Al Ahly aware of reports

Africafoot also contacted a member of Al Ahly’s management to establish whether the Egyptian club had been informed about a possible return for Dieng.

The official said the reports had reached the club and that Dieng had been asked about the prospect of returning to Al Ahly, where he played before moving to Spain.

According to the same source, Dieng said no Valencia CF official had spoken to him about leaving the club. He also indicated that, if he were to move on, his preferred destination would be Al Ahly.

That preference reflects the midfielder’s attachment to his former club, but does not amount to confirmation that negotiations over a transfer are taking place.

Dieng developed as a defensive midfielder and built his reputation in Egypt through his physical strength, ball-winning ability and contribution to the team’s overall balance. During several seasons with Al Ahly, he won domestic and continental trophies.

For now, comments from his agent and information from Al Ahly do not point to an imminent move. Dieng’s playing time at Valencia CF over the coming weeks is likely to provide a clearer indication of his prospects before the winter transfer window.

Valencia CF are due to play their eighth league match of the Spanish championship against Racing Santander.
