Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has congratulated the country’s women’s national team after they secured a historic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Tebboune issued his message on Saturday through his official Facebook page, praising the players, coaching staff and administrators following their breakthrough achievement.
“Congratulations to the women of the national football team on their historic achievement of qualifying for the 2027 Brazil World Cup…”
The Algerian president also congratulated the technical and administrative teams who contributed to the success and wished the squad further success in the remainder of the tournament.
Historic qualification after comeback victory
Algeria secured its place at the World Cup after producing a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The result not only sent the North Africans into the WAFCON semi-finals, but also secured Algeria’s first-ever appearance at the Women’s World Cup.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for Algerian women’s football and comes as the team continues its impressive continental campaign.

Algeria will now turn its attention to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of Ghana vs Malawi on Wednesday.
