Al-Nasr have reached an agreement to extend the contract of head coach Khair Eddine Madoui until 2027, following a successful campaign that saw the team progress to the final of the Libyan Premier League.
The decision, expected to be formally announced in the coming days, comes after Madoui guided the side to the championship “six” stage, having topped their group with an impressive run of results.
Strong record under Madoui
The 49-year-old, who took charge in August, has overseen a consistent and effective campaign. Under his leadership, Al-Nasr collected 35 points from 14 matches, recording 11 wins, two draws and a single defeat, which came against Wafaq Ajdabiya.
That performance ensured qualification for the next phase of the competition, where the league title will be contested among the top six teams.
Madoui’s impact since his arrival has reinforced the club’s confidence in his methods, prompting the move to secure his services beyond the current season.
Title ambition remains central objective
With the championship stage set to begin in early May, attention now turns to the decisive fixtures that will determine the league winners. Al-Nasr are targeting what would be the fourth domestic title in their history.

The decision to renew Madoui’s contract also reflects his broader track record in African football. He previously enjoyed notable success with ES Sétif, leading the club to victory in the CAF Champions League in 2014.
That achievement contributed to him being recognised among the leading coaches on the continent, including receiving awards for his work both in Africa and in Algeria.
Al-Nasr’s management believe this experience will be vital as the club seeks to translate domestic consistency into silverware.
Chasing a historic milestone
Madoui is also pursuing a personal milestone that would place him alongside notable figures in the region’s football history. No Algerian coach has achieved sustained title success in Libya for more than three decades.
The last to do so was Kamal Lemoui, who guided Al-Ittihad to consecutive league titles in the 1989–90 and 1990–91 seasons.
Matching or surpassing that achievement would mark a significant moment in Madoui’s career and further enhance his reputation.
