Al Masry sack head coach Nabil Kouki after Zamalek defeat

Egyptian Premier League side Al Masry SC and head coach Nabil Kouki have mutually agreed to part ways, just 24 hours after a heavy 4-1 defeat to Zamalek SC.

The decision brings an abrupt end to Kouki’s tenure at the Port Said club, less than a year after he was appointed in June 2025.

The loss to Zamalek proved to be the tipping point, capping a difficult run that had already placed pressure on the Tunisian tactician.

Despite efforts to steady performances, results failed to meet expectations, prompting both parties to agree on a separation.

The 55 year old manager will look to land a new role with his vast experience across North Africa and the Middle East, having coached in seven different Arab leagues.

The Tunisian coach enjoyed stints at multiple clubs such as Al Hilal (Sudan), Al-Faisaly (Jordan), Al-Ittihad (Libya), CR Belouizdad (Algeria), and ES Setif in his home country.

Kouki’s departure continues a period of instability for Al Masry, who will now turn their attention to finding a replacement capable of restoring momentum to their campaign.

The club is expected to announce an interim or permanent successor in the coming days as they look to regroup following the setback.
