Darwin Nunez’s future at Al Hilal has become increasingly uncertain, with the Saudi club yet to receive a formal offer or enter serious negotiations with any Turkish side for the Uruguay international.
Al Hilal are under pressure to reshape their foreign-player list before the new season begins, but their efforts to find a solution for Nunez have so far produced no tangible progress. Head coach Simone Inzaghi does not consider the striker among his main technical priorities, prompting the club’s management to intensify its search for a way to move him on during the summer transfer window.
Despite repeated reports in recent weeks linking Nunez with a move to the Turkish league, no Turkish club has made an official approach for his services. Nor has any serious negotiation taken place, leaving Al Hilal facing a situation that is considerably more complicated than the speculation surrounding the player had suggested.
The lack of concrete interest has placed the Saudi club in a difficult position as it attempts to finalise its squad for the upcoming campaign. If Nunez remains at Al Hilal, one of the club’s foreign-player places will continue to be occupied by a player who is outside Inzaghi’s plans.
That could restrict Al Hilal’s ability to complete further signings before the transfer window closes. The club are therefore racing against time to resolve Nunez’s situation while also continuing preparations for Inzaghi’s project ahead of the new season.
With no genuine offers currently on the table, Al Hilal must consider alternative solutions. Those could involve persuading Nunez to accept a new destination or waiting for interest from other clubs to develop. At present, however, the club have yet to secure the breakthrough required to bring the issue closer to a conclusion.
Nunez’s position has consequently become one of the most troublesome matters facing Al Hilal this summer. The repeated stories about clubs being interested in the forward have not been matched by practical steps, leaving the Saudi side still without a clear route forward.
The uncertainty is particularly problematic because Al Hilal need to settle the player’s future quickly if they are to continue building the squad according to Inzaghi’s plans. Until a formal offer arrives or meaningful negotiations begin, Nunez’s status remains unresolved and the club’s attempts to reorganise its foreign-player list remain on hold.
For now, the reports of Turkish interest have not translated into an actual transfer move. Al Hilal must either find a new solution for Nunez or prepare to carry an unwanted foreign-player place into the new season, with time continuing to run out.
