Al Ahly set for major squad overhaul as “Two Super Deals” planned

Egyptian media personality Ahmed Shobeir has revealed that Al Ahly SC are preparing for a significant squad overhaul ahead of next season, including what he described as “two super deals” in the transfer market.

Speaking in televised remarks, Shobeir suggested the Cairo giants are targeting high-profile additions as part of a new recruitment approach aimed at improving performance following a dip in results this campaign.

“Al Ahly is going to sign two big names… super deals,” he said, adding that the club could also move for younger talents aged around 20 or 21 who could develop into major assets.

He also indicated that the club’s transfer policy is shifting towards a more rigorous evaluation process before any deal is completed.

“Al Ahly will not sign any player unless it sees him once, twice, and three times and confirms his ability,” Shobeir explained, highlighting a more cautious and structured scouting strategy.

On the future of the current squad, Shobeir claimed changes are expected among foreign players, with Cape Verde striker Yellen Kamwesh and Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng both likely to leave the club.

He added that three foreign players are expected to remain, while the situation of Gradischar could still be reviewed depending on the club’s final decision.

The reported changes form part of a broader restructuring at Al Ahly as the club looks to reassert dominance domestically and continentally after what has been viewed internally as an underwhelming season
