Al Ahly SC have rejected claims that their technical director, Walid Salah El-Din, has stepped down from his role.
In a statement issued on the evening of 6 April, the Egyptian club dismissed reports suggesting that Salah El-Din had submitted his resignation, describing the claims as inaccurate.
The response follows a report by the Egyptian media outlet Al Watan, which alleged that the club official had decided to leave his position.
According to Al Ahly’s management, the report is incorrect and does not reflect the current situation within the club.
Al Ahly denial
The Cairo-based side said the information published by the outlet was “totally false and does not correspond to reality”, firmly denying that any resignation had taken place.
The statement also criticised the timing of the report, noting that it emerged only hours before an important league fixture for the club.
Al Ahly are preparing to face Cleopatra FC in the opening match of the Championship on 7 April at 18:00 GMT.
The match is considered significant for both teams as they compete in the ongoing title race in the Egyptian Premier League.
Club officials expressed concern that such reports could create unnecessary distractions ahead of a high-stakes fixture.
Walid Salah El-Din position
According to the statement, the circulation of the claim shortly before a crucial match “raises questions and damages the credibility” of the media outlet responsible for the story.
Al Ahly’s management also warned that it would take steps to defend the club’s reputation against what it described as misleading information.
The statement concluded by indicating that the club is prepared to pursue legal action to protect its image and that of its officials.
Club officials said all necessary legal measures would be taken if required, in order to prevent the spread of similar reports that could disrupt the team’s preparations.
Al Ahly are one of the most successful football clubs in African football and regularly compete for domestic and continental honours. Maintaining stability within the technical and administrative structure is viewed as important as the club continues its campaign for the league title.
