Al Ahly Bank rescue late draw against El Gouna in Egyptian League relegation stage

National Bank of Egypt SC were held to a 1-1 draw by El Gouna FC on Sunday at Cairo International Stadium in the eleventh round of the Egyptian Premier League relegation stage.

The visitors took the lead late in the first half through experienced striker Marwan Mohsen.

El Gouna’s opener arrived in the 39th minute after a well-worked attacking move, with Ugo Tololobi providing the assist for Mohsen to finish and give the away side the advantage.

National Bank of Egypt SC pushed for an equaliser throughout the second half as they attempted to avoid defeat on home soil.

Their persistence was eventually rewarded deep into stoppage time when striker Osama Faisal converted a penalty in the second minute of added time to level the score at 1-1.

The result leaves National Bank of Egypt SC on 44 points in third place in the relegation-stage standings, while El Gouna FC move to 40 points in fifth position.

Both sides will now turn their attention to the remaining fixtures as the battle for survival and final league positioning continues.
