Al Ahli hit by fresh friendly defeat as injuries mount before 2026-27 season

Al Ahli’s preparations for the new 2026-27 campaign have suffered another setback after the Jeddah club extended their poor run of results in pre-season friendlies during their overseas training camp.

The side known as “Al-Raqi” have continued to struggle in their warm-up matches, with the latest reverse adding to a sequence of disappointing scorelines as they build up to the start of the new league season.

This latest loss has intensified concerns around Al Ahli’s form and readiness, with the club yet to find consistency or momentum in their friendly fixtures ahead of competitive action.

The run of negative results has also come against the backdrop of injury worries within the squad, compounding the pressure on the team’s preparations and heightening anxiety among supporters as the new season approaches.

Al Ahli’s coaches and technical staff are using the overseas camp to assess player fitness, integrate new ideas and finalise tactical plans, but the combination of defeats and fitness issues has made for a difficult pre-season so far.

While the club’s primary focus remains on being fully prepared for the start of the 2026-27 season, the lack of positive results in these friendlies has raised questions over form, sharpness and squad depth heading into the competitive campaign.

Despite the current setbacks, the warm-up matches are being viewed within the club as an opportunity to correct mistakes, restore confidence and address the problems highlighted by this sequence of poor outcomes before the new season begins.
