Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare of Wolves is being linked with a move to Dutch giants Ajax as the Midlands club adjusts to life in the Championship. The 25-year-old centre-forward, who joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk, is under contract at Molineux until 30 June 2029 but is attracting interest from the Eredivisie side as they look to bolster their attack.
Arokodare’s situation has come into sharper focus following Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2025-26 season, a campaign in which he made 33 top-flight appearances. Ajax are understood to be assessing a deal that would likely require a significant fee, with the striker currently valued at around €20m.
Wolves paid €26m to sign Arokodare on 1 September 2025 after he finished as the Jupiler Pro League’s top scorer in 2024-25 with 21 league goals for Genk. His prolific form in Belgium followed an earlier golden boot in the Coupe de France, where he scored five times in the 2021-22 edition of the competition.
Standing at 1.97m and operating through the middle, Arokodare has also shown he can score in English cup competitions, finding the net in both the FA Cup and EFL Cup for Wolves. The club’s relegation has increased scrutiny on several of their higher-value assets, with the Nigerian among those most likely to generate substantial interest.
With three years still remaining on his deal, Wolves are under no immediate pressure to sell, and Ajax would need to negotiate with a club holding a strong contractual position over the forward.
