CAF president Patrice Motsepe has confirmed the “unanimous and unconditional” support of all 54 African member associations for Gianni Infantino’s bid to remain FIFA president in the 2027 election.
Motsepe made the announcement at the end of Thursday’s work at the CAF Strategic Conference in Sal, Cape Verde, where leaders of the continent’s 54 federations are meeting to discuss the major issues affecting African football and its development.
Surrounded by the heads of the African national football associations, Motsepe said the position followed discussions within CAF as well as information reported in the media in recent days.

“The football federations of 52 countries on the African continent have taken a unanimous position in the context of the discussions and what has happened in the media,” said Motsepe.
“An essential part of the resolution is that there is a unanimous decision by the 54 CAF member associations on the African continent. The objective is to represent the 54 countries in providing unanimous and unconditional support, because of all the discussions that have taken place, but also because of Gianni’s history and major commitment to African football.
“He is eager, as FIFA president, to express Africa’s unanimous and unconditional support for his FIFA presidency.”
The statement publicly confirms CAF’s position on the upcoming FIFA presidential election and was delivered while the continental body’s 54 member associations were gathered in Cape Verde.
