Zambia’s national team have begun their recovery ahead of their second 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match after returning from their opening fixture against Algeria.
The Chipolopolo held a recovery session at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola on Saturday, following their 3-1 defeat by Algeria in their first Group I qualifier.
The session was aimed at helping the players recover from the physical demands of Friday night’s match while maintaining their fitness ahead of the next assignment.
Zambia now have little time to dwell on the defeat, with their attention turning to Tuesday’s meeting with Togo.
The Chipolopolo will host Togo in their second AFCON 2027 qualifying fixture on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The match is scheduled to take place at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, with kick-off set for 18:00.
The recovery session in Ndola forms part of Zambia’s preparations for the home fixture as the team looks to respond to its disappointing opening result.
The 3-1 loss to Algeria left Zambia needing a positive result against Togo as they continue their qualifying campaign.
Returning to home soil gives the team an opportunity to regroup after the demanding trip to Algeria and prepare for another important Group I encounter.
The players were taken through the recovery programme at the Trade Fair Grounds on Saturday as preparations for Tuesday’s match got under way.
With only a short period between the two fixtures, managing the players’ recovery will be important for Zambia as they prepare to face Togo.
The Chipolopolo will be hoping to use the home fixture to put the Algeria result behind them and produce a stronger performance in their second qualifying match.
Tuesday’s game will be played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, with the scheduled kick-off time set for 18:00.
Zambia are also encouraging supporters who want to attend the match to secure their tickets.
Tickets are still available, with supporters instructed to purchase them by downloading the FAZ TechPay App from the Play Store for Android users.
The home encounter with Togo represents Zambia’s next opportunity to collect points in the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
After conceding three goals against Algeria, the Chipolopolo will now look to recover both physically and on the pitch as they prepare for their second assignment.
The team’s return to Ndola and Saturday’s recovery session mark the beginning of that process.
Zambia will host Togo on Tuesday, September 29, with the match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium scheduled for 18:00.
The Chipolopolo’s immediate objective will be to recover from their opening defeat and respond when they take the field in front of their home supporters.
