Algeria have released Manchester City defender Rayan Aït-Nouri from their squad during the current international break, just days after their 3-1 victory over Zambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Algerian Football Federation did not give a reason for the decision, while national team coach Ibrahim Hamdani has not called up another player to replace the defender.
Aït-Nouri was included in Algeria’s squad for the international window but remained on the bench during the victory over Zambia, as the Desert Warriors began their qualifying campaign with three points.

The national team confirmed the defender’s departure in a statement issued on Saturday.
“The national coach, Ibrahim Hamdani, decided this Saturday to release player Rayan Ait Nouri from the national team’s current training camp.
The Algerian international will return to his club, Manchester City.”
No further explanation was provided regarding the decision to release Aït-Nouri from the camp.
Algeria are now preparing for their second qualifying fixture against Burundi, which is scheduled for next Tuesday.
The Desert Warriors currently lead their qualifying group with three points following their win over Zambia. They are ahead of Togo on goal difference.
Hamdani has therefore decided to continue preparations for the Burundi match without Aït-Nouri, with no replacement announced for the Manchester City player.
Aït-Nouri’s departure comes shortly after Algeria’s opening qualifying victory, in which they scored three goals against Zambia to take an early position at the top of the group.
The defender did not feature in that match, remaining among the substitutes as Algeria secured the three points.
The national team is also expected to play a friendly match during the current international break, although the available information does not specify the opponent or date for that fixture.
For now, the focus remains on Algeria’s next competitive assignment against Burundi, with Hamdani’s side looking to build on their opening victory and maintain their position at the top of the group.
The decision to release Aït-Nouri means the Manchester City defender will return to his club before the international break concludes, while Algeria continue their preparations for the upcoming qualifier without making an additional call-up.
