Abdoul Kabir Ouedraogo: Burkina Faso teenager at Rahimo FC linked with FC Sheriff move

Burkina Faso striker Abdoul Kabir Ouedraogo of Rahimo FC is being linked with a move to Moldovan champions FC Sheriff as the Super Liga side monitor attacking options for the new campaign.

The 18-year-old, who plays through the middle in attack, has begun to attract attention outside Burkina Faso after breaking into Rahimo’s first-team set-up. Sheriff are understood to be among the clubs tracking his development as they continue to recruit emerging talent from across Africa.

Ouedraogo, born on 29 December 2007, has already featured on the continental stage, making an appearance for Rahimo in the CAF Champions League. He played 21 minutes in that competition, giving overseas scouts a first close look at him in senior international club football.

Rahimo, one of Burkina Faso’s leading clubs, have developed a reputation for moving players on to European leagues, and interest from Sheriff would fit with that pattern. The Moldovan side regularly reshapes their squad ahead of domestic and European commitments and have a history of investing in young forwards from less-scouted markets.

There is no indication that talks between the clubs are at an advanced stage, and Rahimo are yet to signal publicly whether they would be prepared to sell. Ouedraogo remains under contract with the Burkinabe side as he continues his development in their senior squad.
