Liverpool prioritise Lamine Camara over Manu Kone in midfield recruitment

Liverpool are continuing to assess midfield options, with Lamine Camara currently ahead of Manu Kone on the club’s list of priorities.

According to journalist David Lynch, speaking on the Media Matters podcast, Liverpool are keeping a close watch on both players as they consider how to strengthen their midfield. However, Camara appears to be the preferred target at this stage.

The Senegal international, who plays for AS Monaco, was not signed by Liverpool during the last summer transfer window. The English club’s interest has nevertheless remained, and the Reds could make another approach in a future window.

Camara is under contract with AS Monaco until 30 June 2029 and is valued at 55 million euros. His annual salary in France is 1,380,000 euros (897,000,000 FCFA).

Kone remains under consideration

Manu Kone is also being monitored by Liverpool as part of their recruitment planning. The AS Roma midfielder is regarded as a potential option because of his qualities in the centre of the pitch.

Lynch believes, however, that a move for Kone in January 2027 is unlikely. A deal during the summer transfer window could be more realistic, although Liverpool would first need to establish their priorities and assess what they could afford.

Kone is contracted to AS Roma until 30 June 2029 and has an estimated value of 60 million euros. The midfielder is described in the source as French-Ivorian.

Liverpool’s interest in both players forms part of their wider search for midfield reinforcements, but Camara currently appears to have the advantage in the club’s thinking. The Reds will need to decide which target best fits their plans before taking concrete action.

Elsewhere, AS Roma will soon play their 10th match of the Italian championship against Udinese. The match odds list an AS Roma victory at 1.46, a draw at 4.00 and an Udinese win at 5.10.
