Mikel Arteta has heightened concerns over Bukayo Saka’s injury after the Arsenal forward was forced off early in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the league phase of the Champions League.
Saka left the Allianz Arena only a few minutes after the match began. The England international briefly spoke to Arteta as he walked off and appeared to point towards his thigh.
The injury was a significant blow for Arsenal, with further doubt surrounding its seriousness after Arteta described the situation as concerning.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Arteta said: “They [the medical staff] are a little bit concerned.”
He added, according to The Sun: “When a player has to come off because of a very sharp pain, it is never good news, but we have to wait and see what happens.”
Exclusive footage published by the newspaper showed Saka limping as he left the Allianz Arena. Although he appeared upset, he was able to walk without assistance or crutches.
