Sacha Boey’s appearance against Leipzig may have suggested he had regained the confidence of Bayern Munich’s coaching staff. However, the club’s long-term planning appears to point in a different direction, with the defender reportedly no longer part of its future plans.
According to Ekrem Konur, Bayern’s decision-makers have resumed their efforts to find a suitable departure for the France international. His involvement against Leipzig is not expected to alter the broader view within the club, where his place in the squad is being assessed beyond the immediate demands of the match schedule.
Bayern are balancing the needs of the current campaign with their plans for the squad over the medium term. While Boey remains available when required, the club is understood to believe that there is no longer a long-term role for him in Munich.
The intention is not simply to offload the defender under any circumstances. Bayern want to identify a solution that works for all parties, allowing Boey to secure more regular playing time while giving the club an opportunity to reshape its squad.
The winter transfer window is therefore likely to be the key moment in determining Boey’s future. Until then, he will remain part of the Bayern group and may continue to be called upon when the team needs him, as happened against Leipzig.
But his time in Bavaria appears to be coming to an end. Boey joined Bayern from Galatasaray in winter 2024, although he has never managed to establish himself on a sustained basis since moving to Germany.
The next stage will be to discover which clubs are prepared to make an approach when the winter market opens. Bayern’s priority is understood to be finding a destination judged appropriate for both the player and the club, rather than allowing him to spend the remainder of the season mainly on the bench.
Bayern Munich will soon face Arsenal in their match on matchday three of the league phase of the Champions League.
