Horoya AC welcome Al Merreikh to the Stade du 28-Septembre in Conakry on Sunday, 18 October 2026, for the first leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round tie.
The Guinean side will be aiming to use home advantage to establish a lead before the return match and take an important step towards the next stage of the competition.
Horoya AC secured their place in this round after overcoming JS Saoura in the previous stage. They were beaten 1-0 in the first leg but responded strongly in the return fixture, winning 3-1 to complete the turnaround.
That victory extended the Guinean club’s continental campaign and gave them the opportunity to face an experienced Sudanese opponent in front of their home supporters.
Several players could have a significant influence on the match. Salif Coulibaly is expected to provide experience at the heart of the Horoya AC defence, while goalkeeper Sekou Sylla will be tasked with protecting his area and producing the required saves at key moments.
Issaka Samake could also prove important from the flank. His forward runs and ability to create danger in attack may offer Horoya AC another route towards the Al Merreikh defence.
The Guinean club will need to remain organised at the back and take their chances in front of goal against a side with considerable continental experience. A positive result in Conakry would give Horoya AC a valuable advantage before the second leg and keep their hopes of progressing alive.
