Arda Guler has reportedly agreed a new contract with Real Madrid, but uncertainty remains over whether his revised deal will run until 2031 or 2032.
Anadolu Agency reported on Monday 5 October, citing Madrid-based sports daily AS, that the Turkiye international had agreed to extend his current contract, which is understood to run until 2029, by two years.
However, a post on X by Fabrizio Romano was summarised as saying that Guler’s new agreement would run until 2032. Neither report represents an official announcement from Real Madrid, meaning the precise length of the renewal has not been confirmed.
The Anadolu Agency report says the extension would keep Guler at the club for at least another five years and include a salary increase to reflect his growing importance to the team.
The contrasting reports point to different levels of commitment. A 2031 expiry would represent a two-year extension to the reported 2029 end date, while the 2032 figure would indicate a longer-term agreement. The available information does not establish whether the reports refer to different terms or whether one contains an error.
Guler is reported to have started five matches for Real Madrid this season under Jose Mourinho. His influence increased significantly last term, when he made 40 starts, scored six goals and provided a team-high 14 assists.
Those figures are understood to be among the reasons Real Madrid are seeking to secure the midfielder’s future. The 21-year-old joined the club from Fenerbahce in 2023 and is now in his fourth season with Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho has praised Guler’s technical quality, vision, decision-making and creativity, while also highlighting the player’s potential for further development. A more prominent role under the manager has been a key part of the discussion surrounding the midfielder’s future.
Transfermarkt reportedly increased Guler’s market value from €90 million to €100 million after reports of the renewal emerged. That valuation is separate from the reported contract terms and does not confirm the duration of the agreement.
Real Madrid’s reported plans for Guler fit with the club’s wider efforts to retain important young players. The club has also sought to secure the futures of leading midfielders such as Aurelien Tchouameni, who is linked with a reported contract running until 2031, and players including Vinicius Junior.
The reported salary increase would reflect Guler’s growing standing within the squad, but it too remains unconfirmed.
For now, 2031 is the expiry date given in Anadolu Agency’s report citing AS, while 2032 is the alternative attributed to Fabrizio Romano’s post. Only official confirmation from Real Madrid will settle the length and terms of Arda Guler’s renewal.
