Crystal Palace are considering extending the contract of Ismaïla Sarr, despite the Senegal international attracting interest from Liverpool and Galatasaray during the summer.
Sarr remained at the Premier League club after the interest failed to result in a move, and Palace are now looking at securing his future for even longer.
According to Sky Sports, the London club are seeking to extend the winger’s current agreement, which is due to run until June 2029.
Talks between Palace officials and representatives of the former Marseille player have already taken place, with discussions described as positive.
However, an agreement has not yet been reached and there remains uncertainty over whether the two sides will finalise a new contract.
Sarr’s position at Palace has strengthened as a result of his performances for the club. The Senegal forward has established a strong reputation in the Premier League and remains an important figure for the Eagles.
His form has also ensured that he continues to attract attention from other clubs in England, despite having a contract that keeps him at Crystal Palace until 2029.
The situation represents a change from the uncertainty surrounding Sarr during the summer transfer window, when both Galatasaray and Liverpool were reportedly interested in signing him.
The winger ultimately stayed in south London rather than pursuing a move away from Palace.
The club now appear keen to build on that decision by exploring the possibility of keeping him on improved or extended terms.
Sarr’s existing contract already provides Palace with significant security, with the current deal scheduled to expire in June 2029. Nevertheless, the club are reportedly prepared to discuss a longer commitment with the Senegal international.
The discussions have taken place between Palace’s directors and Sarr’s representatives, suggesting that both sides have already begun considering his longer-term future.
While the talks have been positive, no agreement has yet been confirmed.
Sarr’s continued presence at Crystal Palace is significant given the level of interest he attracted during the previous transfer window. The interest from Liverpool and Galatasaray demonstrated the attention surrounding the player, but he remained with the Eagles.
His performances since joining the club have helped maintain his standing in the Premier League, while his reputation continues to make him a player of interest to other English clubs.
Palace will therefore be looking to make progress in negotiations as they attempt to secure Sarr’s future beyond his existing contract.
For the Senegal international, the discussions could result in a longer stay at a club where he has continued to perform well.
For now, however, the two sides remain in negotiations, and a new agreement has yet to be completed.
Sarr’s current contract runs until June 2029, but Palace’s reported desire to extend it indicates the club are keen to retain the winger despite continued interest from elsewhere.
The coming days could determine whether the positive discussions between the club and the player’s representatives lead to a new deal.
