Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender Khulumani Ndamane is being monitored by Portuguese clubs Braga and Famalicao, according to global transfer expert Ekrem Kanour.
The two clubs are tracking the 22-year-old’s progress and are considering a potential move in January.
“Braga & Famalicao scouts closely monitoring Khulumani Ndamane. Tracking player’s progress under watch. January potential move on the radar,” Kanour said.
The reported interest follows Ndamane’s rapid rise from the Kaizer Chiefs Academy to an established role with Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana.
Born in Sahlumbe, KwaZulu-Natal, Ndamane first drew attention through his performances in regional youth football. He joined the Kaizer Chiefs youth structures in 2023 and progressed from the Under-19 side into the club’s DStv Diski Challenge reserve team.
Although he was regarded as a promising defender, the pathway into the Kaizer Chiefs senior team remained blocked. Ndamane subsequently moved in search of regular first-team football.
That opportunity came in June 2024, when he joined TS Galaxy. The transfer proved significant during his first season in the top flight, as he made 27 league appearances and helped TS Galaxy finish fifth in the Premiership.
His performances were built on composure in possession, an ability to read the game and distribution capable of breaking opposition lines. Those qualities soon made him one of TS Galaxy’s standout defenders.
Ndamane’s progress also earned him international recognition. He made his Bafana Bafana debut against Tanzania in June 2025 and quickly became part of Hugo Broos’ squad.
The defender featured in important FIFA World Cup qualifiers and was selected for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
His development led to a major move in January 2026, when Mamelodi Sundowns signed him during the mid-season transfer window.
At Chloorkop, Ndamane has moved to the highest level of club football in Africa. He helped Mamelodi Sundowns win the CAF Champions League and has also gained experience in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
His displays for Sundowns have now reportedly brought him to the attention of Braga and Famalicao. Kanour says both Portuguese clubs are watching the defender closely, with a possible January transfer under consideration.
The reported European interest represents another step in Ndamane’s swift progress since he left the Kaizer Chiefs Academy.
