Hussein El-Sayed has apologised for not being able to lead Zamalek’s delegation for their trip to Rwanda for the first leg of their African Champions League second preliminary-round tie.
A source at Zamalek confirmed that El-Sayed, a member of the club’s board of directors, will not take charge of the delegation travelling to Rwanda on 12 October.
The club’s board is now expected to decide who will lead the squad on the trip, with football director Abdel Nasser Mohamed and technical director Moataz Gamal the two candidates under consideration.

Zamalek are due to travel to Rwanda ahead of their meeting with the Rwandan Army in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the African Champions League.
The match will take place on 16 October at 17:00 local time at Kigali Amahoro Stadium, where the Egyptian side will begin their latest continental campaign.
The identity of the delegation’s leader remains to be decided, with the club yet to choose between Mohamed and Gamal.
The change comes as Zamalek prepare for a demanding trip and an important opening fixture in the two-legged tie.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a Cameroonian refereeing team to oversee the match.
Abdoul Mferi has been named as the referee, with fellow Cameroonians Elvis Guy Noupoue Ngogo and Rodrigue Meni Mbele appointed as the first and second assistant referees respectively.
Antoine Max Essouma will serve as the fourth official.
CAF has also appointed officials to supervise the match and the refereeing team.
Tanzanian Khalid Abdullah Mohammed will act as the match’s general supervisor, while Ugandan Ali Mulumba Tumusangi has been assigned to supervise the referees.
Zamalek’s preparations will continue with the club awaiting confirmation of who will lead its delegation in Rwanda.
For now, the board’s decision is between football director Abdel Nasser Mohamed and technical director Moataz Gamal, following El-Sayed’s apology for not taking the role.
The Egyptian club will face the Rwandan Army at Kigali Amahoro Stadium on 16 October, with the match scheduled for 17:00, as Zamalek begin their two-legged African Champions League tie.
