RC Lens are considering their next move regarding Burkina Faso international Hervé Koffi, whose future has become one of the key talking points ahead of the summer transfer window following an impressive loan spell at Angers.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper has enjoyed a standout season in Ligue 1, emerging as one of the most consistent performers in his position.
His displays have not only helped Angers remain competitive but have also significantly increased his value, placing Lens in a strong position as they assess their options.
Koffi’s campaign has been recognised at the highest level. He has been shortlisted for the Ligue 1 Best Goalkeeper award at the UNFP Trophies, underlining his influence and consistency throughout the season.
He has recorded 10 clean sheets in 27 league appearances, while averaging more than four saves per match,
figures that highlight his importance to Angers’ defensive structure. His performances also earned him the club’s Player of the Season award.
Despite his success, his immediate future remains unclear. A return to Angers appears unlikely, while reintegration into the Lens squad is also uncertain. Instead, the French club could look to capitalise on his rising stock by facilitating a transfer.
According to reports, Koffi has already been offered to several clubs as Lens explore potential deals. Among those linked are AS Saint-Étienne, who are currently third in Ligue 2 and pushing for a return to the top flight.
The club are understood to be seeking competition in the goalkeeping department, having not been fully convinced by the performances of Gautier Larsonneur.
However, negotiations may prove challenging. Lens are believed to have set an asking price of around €8 million for the goalkeeper,a figure that has reportedly discouraged Saint-Étienne from advancing further, despite the appeal of signing one of Ligue 1’s top-performing goalkeepers this season.
Koffi remains under contract with Lens until June 2028, which strengthens the club’s position in any potential negotiations. There are currently no indications that the northern side are willing to lower their valuation, meaning any interested club will need to meet their demands.
With interest expected to grow, attention will now turn to whether other clubs, either in France or elsewhere in Europe, are prepared to match the asking price.
Koffi’s performances have ensured he is firmly on the radar, and his next move could prove decisive in shaping the next phase of his career.
From an African perspective, his rise has been significant.
The Burkina Faso international has established himself as one of the continent’s leading goalkeepers in Europe this season, combining reliability with leadership at the back.
As the campaign nears its conclusion, Koffi is expected to remain focused on finishing strongly with Angers, who are preparing for their 32nd league match against Auxerre.
Beyond that, the summer window promises to bring clarity to a situation that continues to attract growing interest.
